What are the common characteristics of elastic bands?

Wear resistance

When the material is in the process of being used often by friction, scraping and grinding, grinding elastic belt, and other mechanical actions will cause its surface gradually wear, so the choice of material woven ribbon wear is very important. TPU plastic raw material has excellent wear resistance, more than five times of natural rubber, and is one of the preferred materials for wear-resistant products.

Tensile properties

The tensile strength is up to 70MPa and the elongation at break is up to 1000%.

Tearing performance

When the elastomer is used, the damage caused by the expansion of the tear is called tearing. The strength of the tear headlamp band is the ability of the material to resist tearing. Generally speaking, TPU has a high tear resistance, and the tear strength is very excellent compared with some commonly used rubber plastics.

Bending performance

Many plastic materials are prone to fracture under the action of repeated periodic stress. TPU products can maintain excellent flexure resistance in different environments, making it one of good choices among polymer materials.

Hydrolysis resistance

TPU has good water resistance under turbidity, and no obvious hydrolysis will occur within 1 to 2 years, especially for polyether series. Polyester soaked at 50℃ for half a year or 70℃ for 3 weeks or 100℃ for 3 ~ 4 days, will be completely decomposed. This is one of the reasons for TPU to be suitable for environmental protection materials. Polyether series is recommended for products that need regular contact with water.

Resistance to high temperature and oxidation

General plastic raw materials are easy to oxidize under the environment of above 70℃ for a long time, and TPU has good antioxidant capacity. Generally speaking, TPU temperature resistance can reach 120℃.
